State records 4-minute 4-second average emergency response time in September, improving from 34th rank in November 2025
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Police retained the No. 1 position in India in the ERSS-112 Response Time Ranking for September 2026, recording an average emergency response time of 4 minutes and 4 seconds.
The ranking reflected efforts to improve emergency response, technology, operational coordination and field deployment across the state.
The police improved from 34th in November 2025 to the top national position in September 2026. ERSS-112 call takers, dispatchers, Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) personnel, district police teams and supervisory officers achieved this performance.
Himachal Pradesh DGP Ashok Tewari, IPS, congratulated the ERSS-112 team and said the achievement reflected the commitment, discipline and teamwork of the police personnel at different levels.
“From 34th position to No. 1, this journey reflects the dedication and teamwork of our police personnel. Every minute matters in an emergency. Being No. 1 is an achievement, but sustaining this position through consistent, professional and compassionate service to citizens is our greater responsibility,” Tewari added.
The Himachal Pradesh Police reiterated its commitment to further improving the speed, quality and citizen-centricity of emergency response services across the state.
