Karan Johar to serve final cup of ‘Koffee’

Filmmaker Karan Johar announced the final season of “Koffee With Karan” on Wednesday, bringing the popular chat show to an end after nine seasons. The ninth season will stream on JioHotstar from October 14, with Johar announcing the news through an emotional promotional video.

Johar shared the promo on Instagram with the message, “I think we need to talk. Over Koffee, of course,” and confirmed the streaming date for the final season.

In the video, Johar recalled discussing the idea of the show with his father, filmmaker Yash Johar, in 2004. Yash Johar died soon after, while the first episode of “Koffee With Karan” premiered that August.

Looking back on the show’s journey, Johar referred to several controversies and conversations associated with its episodes. He mentioned the debates around “nepotism” and recalled celebrities who had appeared on the show as couples, with some later marrying and others going their separate ways.

Johar also joked that the show had “nearly ended the careers” of some national icons. The promo ended with an invitation to viewers to join him for one final cup of coffee.

The ninth season will feature celebrity conversations, rapid-fire segments and coffee hampers, with Johar announcing that he was ready for the show’s final chapter.
