Punjabi film based on real events, records, research
Chandigarh, September 27
Punjabi film Sui – Maqboolpura Files was announced as a project based on real events, documented records, and nearly two years of research, focusing on women and families whose voices had remained unheard. Written and directed by Abhinav Thakur, the film was produced by Tilok Kothari and was set to bring these stories to the screen.
The film stars Hobby Dhaliwal and Kiran Shergill. Sagar Kothari headed the project, while Trisha Studio produced the film.
According to the makers, the film drew from events documented during the research process and sought to present the experiences of women and families through a human-centred narrative.
