Ranbir Kapoor goes rugged, Alia Bhatt retro in ‘Love & War’

A day after unveiling Ranbir Kapoor’s first look, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has revealed Alia Bhatt’s character look from “Love & War”, offering a glimpse of the actor in a striking red, cabaret-inspired avatar as anticipation builds around the film’s worldwide theatrical release on January 21, 2027.

The poster, released on Friday, shows Alia on a stage beneath multiple spotlights, dressed in a red crop top and a skirt with a thigh-high slit, paired with a feathered headpiece. The look draws from the retro cabaret aesthetic of 1960s and 1970s cinema, while details of her character remain under wraps.

Bhansali also shared the look on his X account. The production house posted Alia’s poster with the caption, “Aag bhi, dilon ki jaan bhi!”, while confirming the release date. Alia shared the look on Instagram, describing it as crafted by Bhansali.

The look has drawn an enthusiastic response on social media, with fans praising Alia’s dramatic styling, visuals and screen presence. Ranbir’s first look, unveiled a day earlier, had also sparked considerable discussion, with some viewers praising his intense avatar while others compared its bloodied, rugged appearance to his look in “Animal”.

The attention now turns to Vicky Kaushal, whose look from the film is yet to be revealed. With the makers introducing the lead characters one at a time, viewers are eager to see how Kaushal has been styled for Bhansali’s period drama.

“Love & War” stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. The film marks Bhansali’s second collaboration with Alia after “Gangubai Kathiawadi” (2022) and his reunion with Ranbir nearly two decades after “Saawariya” (2007).

Alia played the lead in “Gangubai Kathiawadi”, for which she received the National Award for Best Actress. Ranbir and Vicky previously appeared together in “Sanju” (2018), while Alia and Vicky shared the screen in “Raazi” (2018).

“Love & War” is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on January 21, 2027, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
