India assures medals in squash and table tennis mixed doubles; medal tally reaches 18

Chandigarh, September 25

Indian shooters Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won the gold medal on the seventh day of the Asian Games 2026 with a total score of 484.6, while Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil and Niraj Kumar secured silver in the men’s 50m rifle three-position team event.

Kamaljeet and Suruchi defeated South Korea’s Choo Ga-eun and Hong Soo-hyun, who finished with a score of 478.0.

The shooting gold took India’s overall medal tally to 18.

In the men’s 50m rifle three-position event, Tomar, Patil and Kumar won the silver medal as a team. Tomar and Kumar also qualified for the individual 50m rifle three-position event, whose final is scheduled for 10:30 am.

India secured further medals in squash as Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar entered the semi-finals of the mixed doubles event.

In table tennis, Manush Shah and Diya Chitale defeated Hong Kong, China’s Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem 3-1 in their mixed doubles quarterfinal to assure India of another medal. Shah and Chitale will face China in the semi-final at 3:45 pm.

The Indian women’s hockey team also registered a 3-1 victory over Japan.

Several Indian athletes and teams are scheduled to compete in the remaining events of the seventh day.

The programme includes table tennis, squash, artistic gymnastics, badminton, weightlifting and athletics.

Among the key evening events are the women’s shot put final featuring Manpreet Kaur and Krishna Jayasankar Menon, the women’s pole vault final involving Sindhushree Ganesha and Baranica Elangovan, and Gulveer Singh’s men’s 10,000m final.
