Debut poetry collection ‘Rock Daisies’ to launch on Sept 27

The Chandigarh Press Club in Sector 27B is set to host the launch of writer and academic Dr Deviyani Singh’s debut poetry collection titled “Rock Daisies” on September 27, i.e. Sunday, at 3:45 pm.

The collection comprises 190 poems written in surgical couplets and tight quatrains, covering themes such as war, geopolitics, resilience, love, loss, climate change and the courage of women. It is described as a work for dreamers, overthinkers, activists and mystics.

The event will bring together literary figures, media professionals and guests from public life.

Vijai Vardhan, IAS (Retd.), former Chief Secretary, Haryana, will be the chief guest. Dr Manmohan Singh, IPS (Retd.), Professor of Eminence and Chairman, Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi, will attend as the guest of honour. Manraj Grewal Sharma, National Editor (North), The Indian Express, will be guest of honour and moderator.

Dr Sunaina Jain, Assistant Professor at MCM DAV College, Chandigarh, poet and author, will conduct the programme.

Notably, Dr Deviyani Singh holds a PhD in International Terrorism and has served as a Delhi University faculty member and Executive Officer, Committee on External Affairs, Lok Sabha Secretariat. She has also been an editor of an education magazine, creative writing mentor and state-level athlete.

The book is dedicated to her mother with the line, “For Mom, who told me to burn the midnight oil, not chapatis.”

Mediapersons, literary critics and photojournalists have been invited to the event. An interaction with the author and interviews will follow the programme.
