BJP alleges unfulfilled job promises and neglect of Kullu MLA Sunder Thakur

The Kullu district unit of the BJP on Thursday staged a protest at Dhalpur against the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, alleging failure to fulfil election promises and address public concerns. The party also accused the government of neglecting its own MLA, Sunder Thakur.

Addressing the gathering, former minister and senior BJP leader Govind Singh Thakur alleged that Kullu MLA Sunder Thakur had been waiting for a ministerial position for the past four years despite repeated assurances that he would be inducted into the state Cabinet.

Thakur also targeted the Congress government over its employment promises, alleging that its commitment to provide one lakh permanent jobs to youths every year had not been fulfilled.

He further alleged that institutions established by previous governments to provide public services had been closed under the Congress regime, claiming the government had failed to meet people’s expectations.

The protest was part of the BJP’s statewide campaign against what the party described as the Congress government’s failures. BJP leaders and workers addressed a gathering at Dhalpur, highlighting issues related to governance, employment and public services.

The BJP’s youth wing had also planned to burn an effigy of the state government. However, the programme could not be carried out as police personnel deployed at the site took possession of the effigy.

According to the BJP, workers attempted three times to bring the effigy to the protest venue in a vehicle, but police personnel intercepted the attempts and took the effigy into custody.
