State-run telecom operator BSNL has announced a series of special offers for customers in Himachal Pradesh ahead of Independence Day, including a Rs 1 SIM offer, and has set a target to launch 5G services in the state within six months, subject to government approval.
BSNL Chief General Manager Rajan Kamboj announced the initiatives at a press conference in Shimla, outlining plans to expand mobile, FTTH and digital connectivity across the state.
Under the new offer, customers will get a BSNL SIM for Rs 1, along with a 24-day plan offering 1 GB of data per day, unlimited calling, and 100 SMS per day.BSNL has also introduced a Rs 2,399 annual plan with a validity of 412 days and 2 GB of daily data.
Kamboj said the company had also introduced live TV services on mobile phones through Tango TV, allowing customers to access more than 500 channels free of cost.
For urban areas, BSNL has launched a Rs 1,111 FTTH plan offering up to 5,000 GB of data and speeds of up to 200 Mbps.
On digital infrastructure, BSNL aims to connect 3,615 gram panchayats in Himachal Pradesh through optical fiber by next year. The project is expected to involve an investment of around Rs 2,000 crore.
Kamboj said 5G services would be rolled out in Himachal Pradesh within six months after receiving the necessary government approval.
BSNL said the initiatives were aimed at improving connectivity in rural and remote areas and reducing the digital divide in the state. The company expects the new plans and network expansion to strengthen digital and telecom connectivity across Himachal Pradesh.
