Patiala, August 10
A 17-year-old boy, identified as Vicky, was reportedly swept away by a strong current in the Bhakra Canal near Nabha Road in Patiala, with divers continuing a search operation.
According to the information available, Vicky had arrived near the Bhakra Canal with some friends. During the incident, he was reportedly swept away by the strong water current near a canal outlet.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, a team of divers reached the spot and launched a search for the teenager. Shankar Bhardwaj of the diving team said the teams were immediately deployed for the search after receiving the information. Police were also informed about the incident.
Police reached the spot and took three youths who had accompanied Vicky to the police station for questioning. An investigation into the matter is underway.
The incident is being investigated by the Civil Lines police in Patiala.
