Jwalamukhi, August 10
Panic spread along the main route to the Jwalamukhi temple on Sunday morning after the body of a man was found lying near a small Shiva temple under mysterious circumstances. The body was reportedly covered in blood, with cut marks visible on the neck. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Gurbaksh Singh, son of Amarjit Singh, a resident of Bhopa Sarai Kalan village in Jagraon tehsil of Ludhiana district.
The Jwalamukhi police immediately reached the spot, secured the area, and started the investigation. Given the circumstances, police are examining all possibilities, including murder and suicide.
A forensic team from Dharamshala was called to the scene to collect evidence. ASP RP Jaswal and Jwalamukhi SHO Sandeep Patial, along with other police personnel, inspected the site and questioned local shopkeepers and residents.
Police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby shops and establishments to determine where the deceased came from and his movements before the incident. Investigators hope the footage will provide crucial clues.
Following the incident, rumours of human sacrifice began circulating locally. However, police have not confirmed any such angle. Officials said the actual circumstances of the death will become clear only after the post-mortem report, forensic examination and CCTV investigation.
Police are currently working to identify the deceased and determine the exact cause and circumstances of his death.
