Panchkula, July 10
A large number of devotees thronged the ancient Shiv Temple at Saketri in Panchkula today on the occasion of the second Monday of the holy month of Sawan, braving rain to offer prayers to Lord Shiva and seek his blessings.
The temple witnessed a steady flow of devotees despite the inclement weather. Devotees performed rituals and offered prayers, with the atmosphere reverberating with religious fervour.
Located in Saketri village, the ancient temple is believed to have a history spanning thousands of years. According to local beliefs, the Pandavas had worshipped at the shrine during their exile. The temple attracts large crowds during Shivratri and throughout the month of Sawan.
The temple priest said devotees continued to arrive despite heavy rainfall. He said worshipping Lord Shiva during Sawan is considered auspicious and devotees believe that offering prayers during the holy month helps fulfil their wishes.
