Dharamshala, August 6
The Dharamshala Block Congress on Thursday staged a protest against BJP MLA Sudhir Sharma, alleging that he made derogatory remarks against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu during a BJP rally in Shimla.

The protest comes amid the political row following the registration of a Vigilance FIR against Sharma in a disproportionate assets case.
Led by Congress leader Devender Jaggi, party workers gathered at Kacheri Chowk, raised slogans against the BJP legislator and attempted to burn his effigy. Police intervened and prevented the protesters from setting the effigy ablaze.

Addressing the media, Jaggi condemned the alleged remarks against the Chief Minister, describing them as unacceptable and the result of political frustration.

He alleged that Sharma’s statements were prompted by the Vigilance FIR registered against him and said the state government was taking impartial action in cases involving disproportionate assets.

Jaggi maintained that all individuals facing allegations of possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income should be investigated fairly, irrespective of their political affiliation.

Warning of a strong response to such statements, he said the Congress would not tolerate derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister and asserted that the people of Dharamshala would give a befitting reply through democratic means.
