Patiala, August 6

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday demanded the resignation of Punjab’s Health Minister and Education Minister over alleged examination paper leaks in the state. Addressing the “Bhavishya Bachao Morcha” organized by the Student Organization of India (SOI) outside Punjabi University, Patiala, Badal accused the government of failing to take responsibility for the issue.

Badal said several examination papers had leaked in Punjab, but the state government had never accepted accountability. He alleged that the government’s stand had changed after students started demanding resignations within the state.

Reacting to the Assembly Speaker’s remarks on amendments to a bill, Badal said it was “shameful” to claim that the changes were made in the presence of the sangat. He alleged that those consulted were government representatives and ruling party MLAs, not the public.

The SAD chief also criticized the state government over the financial condition of employees, alleging that the government was delaying payment of dearness allowance (DA) while spending crores on publicity campaigns.

Badal claimed that schools established during previous SAD governments, including meritorious and Adarsh schools, were facing neglect, with teachers allegedly struggling to receive salaries and buildings deteriorating.

A large gathering of SOI supporters and others participated in the protest outside Punjabi University. SAD leaders, including core committee member Gurpreet Raju Khanna, Patiala urban president Amit Rathi, Sanaur constituency in-charge Rajinder Virk and Patiala constituency in-charge Amarinder Singh Bajaj, were present during the event.
