Two injured in firing over car parking dispute in Patiala

Two people were injured after a dispute over car parking escalated into a shooting in Patiala’s busy Leela Bhawan area, considered one of the city’s most crowded and secure localities, police said.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred outside a showroom named Car Life, where a disagreement over parking allegedly broke out between the showroom owner, his son and a resident of Urban Estate.

The argument reportedly began over the parking of a vehicle outside the showroom and then turned violent. The accused allegedly opened fire, injuring the showroom owner and his son, before fleeing the scene in his vehicle.

The injured were admitted to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala for treatment.

Police have initiated legal proceedings and are in the process of registering a case. An investigation is underway to trace the accused and establish the circumstances leading to the firing.

The injured shopkeeper’s statement has been recorded as part of the investigation. DSP Patiala City Sanjeev Singla also reached the spot and is overseeing the investigation.
