Kangra , August 4

The Kangra Assembly constituency has been allotted an electric bus depot, a move that Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) Vice Chairman Ajay Verma described as a historic milestone for the region. Addressing a press conference at his office in Kangra on Tuesday, Verma expressed gratitude to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri for the decision.

Verma said the Kangra Assembly constituency had been selected for the electric bus depot among all constituencies in Kangra district, calling it a significant achievement that would strengthen the region’s transport infrastructure and create new opportunities.

He said Kangra was once regarded as one of the leading Assembly constituencies but had gradually fallen behind due to a lack of effective leadership. According to Verma, efforts are now underway to restore the constituency’s prominence, and the electric bus depot will serve as a milestone in that process.

He said the project is expected to generate employment opportunities for local youth while enhancing Kangra’s visibility, as buses operating from the depot will carry the constituency’s name across the state.

Verma also said that the state government had already announced the allocation of 10 electric buses for Kangra and that they would soon be inducted into the HRTC fleet.

Reiterating his commitment to the constituency, Verma said ensuring the all-round development of Kangra remains his priority and that he would continue working towards that objective.

Navneet Sharma, Sunil Mona, Anil Kumar, Rita Mankotia and Sachin were also present during the press conference.
