Vikramaditya lays foundation stone of Tarera Bridge

Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Tuesday said the state government is actively pursuing financial assistance from the Center to improve road connectivity in the remote and inaccessible areas of Himachal Pradesh.

Addressing a public gathering during his visit to Sainj in Banjar subdivision of Kullu district, the minister said the government is regularly taking up the issues of road construction and maintenance in difficult terrains with the Central Government to secure higher budgetary support.

During the visit, Vikramaditya Singh laid the foundation stone of the Tarera Bridge, which will be constructed at a cost of ₹2 crore. He also inaugurated the strengthening work of the Ropa–Shangad road, to be completed at an estimated cost of ₹1.5 crore.

The minister announced that the Banjar–Sainj–Shangad road would be upgraded to a Major District Road (MDR), making it eligible for funding under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).

He said that despite financial constraints, the state government is continuing road construction and maintenance works across Himachal Pradesh. Referring to his recent visit to Dodra Kwar in Shimla district, Singh said road projects worth ₹45 crore have been approved for the area.

He further informed that ₹53 crore has been sanctioned for road repair and other development works in the Banjar Assembly constituency under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and other schemes.

The minister said he has been touring rural and remote areas of the state to assess infrastructure requirements and hear public grievances. Complaints related to damaged roads and connectivity are being addressed on priority, he added.

Vikramaditya Singh also said the Public Works Department will soon inspect the Kullu–Manali Left Bank Road and the Bhuntar–Manikaran road, after which necessary directions will be issued for repair and improvement works to ensure safer and better connectivity for the public.
