Chandigarh, July 28
Actor Vijay Varma has dismissed a viral screenshot claiming to show an Instagram Story in which he allegedly shared his views on reservation and privilege. The screenshot, widely circulated across social media, was believed by many to be genuine before the actor publicly clarified that it was fabricated.
Reacting on X, Vijay Varma reposted the screenshot and wrote, “I never posted this. This is all false.” He later shared another clarification, stating, “I never posted this. This is not my story,” confirming that no such statement had ever appeared on his official social media accounts.
The fake screenshot contained a detailed message discussing reservation, privilege and equal opportunities, claiming to reflect the actor’s personal views. Vijay has now categorically denied any association with the post. Similarly, actress Shilpa Shetty also took to her Instagram story and posted a story which read that she was shocked to see fake statements on reservation falsely attached to her name which was completely fabricated, malicious garbage and asked users not to fall for this fake news.
Meanwhile, the anonymous Instagram page Reservation Hatao Andolan, which has amassed 4.9 million followers overnight, has outlined its key demands regarding the reservation policy. The campaign has called for economic-based affirmative action, consistent creamy-layer enforcement, evidence-based sub-categorization, transition, review and accountability.
