Continuous rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has triggered another landslide near the Lift area in Shimla, disrupting traffic and causing inconvenience to the commuters. The incident occurred on Monday morning when a large quantity of debris and rocks fell onto the road, completely blocking the vehicular movement in both the directions.
According to eyewitnesses, two landslides occurred within a short interval, leading to the complete closure of the road and resulting in long traffic queues. Office-goers, schoolchildren and other commuters remained stranded as vehicles piled up on both sides of the affected stretch.
Soon after the incident was reported, officials from the district administration and the concerned department rushed to the spot. Restoration work was launched immediately, with JCB machines deployed to clear the debris and reopen the road.
Authorities said efforts are being made on a priority basis to restore traffic movement at the earliest. Meanwhile, commuters have been advised to remain cautious as intermittent rainfall continues to increase the risk of further landslides in vulnerable areas.
