Dharamshala, July 15
District Tourism Officer Vinay Dhiman on Wednesday said that in view of the monsoon, there will be a complete ban on certain adventure sports activities including river rafting and paragliding from July 15 to September 15. Besides it, trekking without registration will not be permitted on 10 designated trekking routes in the Dhauladhar region until October 15.
He further informed that every trekker heading to these routes must register their name, contact number, the number of accompanying persons, details of necessary equipment, and information about the authorized trekking guide at registration centers established by the district administration and the District Disaster Management Authority.
Vinay Dhiman stated that strict action would be taken against those violating orders issued by the District Magistrate of Kangra under the Disaster Management Act. If an individual goes trekking in disregard of the rules and a rescue operation becomes necessary, the entire cost must be borne by that individual. Additionally, the Act provides for the imposition of fines and legal action. He appealed to tourists and trekkers to heed weather department warnings and participate in adventure activities only in accordance with the prescribed rules.
