Manali, July 5

Manali recorded a significant increase in tourist arrivals during the summer season, with nearly 1.88 lakh tourist vehicles entered the hill station between April and June this year, reflecting a notable improvement over the corresponding period last year.  As many as 1,88,000 tourist vehicles arrived in Manali during April, May and June 2026, compared with around 1,65,000 vehicles during the same three-month period last year, according to the Manali Green Tax Barrier data. The figures indicate an increase of nearly 23,000 tourist vehicles, highlighting the destination’s growing popularity among domestic and international travellers.

District Tourism Officer Kullu, Dr Rohit Sharma, said that the tourism industry has witnessed a seasonal decline with the onset of the monsoon. However, he described this year’s summer tourism season as highly successful, with visitor numbers surpassing those recorded during the previous year.

Sharing the monthly figures, Sharma said around 35,123 tourist vehicles entered Manali in April 2026, followed by approximately 66,826 in May and nearly 86,100 in June. During the corresponding period last year, about 41,271 tourist vehicles arrived in April, around 41,768 in May and nearly 81,770 in June.

He said the overall figures demonstrate that the summer tourism season performed significantly better than last year, providing a boost to businesses in the tourism sector, including hotels, restaurants, transport operators, and local traders.

Sharma added that while the arrival of the monsoon has led to a decline in tourist footfall in July, the strong performance during the summer months has been encouraging for the region’s tourism industry.

Manali continues to remain one of Himachal Pradesh’s most sought-after tourist destinations, attracting visitors from across India and abroad with its scenic landscapes, adventure activities and pleasant weather.
