Panchkula, July 4
A double murder case has shocked Haryana’s Panchkula after two men, identified as Sanjeet and his brother in law Arjun, were found dead following a family function in Sector 19 under the Sector 20 police station limits.
According to preliminary information, Sanjeet had recently welcomed a baby boy, and a traditional sixth day ceremony was being held at his residence. Arjun had attended the function, but an argument reportedly broke out between the two during the gathering.
Police said Sanjeet’s body was later found near the Sector 19 gate with stab injuries. During the investigation, officers also recovered Arjun’s body a short distance away from the scene, prompting a wider probe into the incident.
Sector 20 Station House Officer Sombir Dhaka said initial findings suggest that Arjun allegedly stabbed Sanjeet to death. However, after Arjun’s body was discovered, police began investigating all possible angles to determine who was responsible for his death.
Police said Arjun had married Sanjeet’s sister in a love marriage a few months ago, a relationship that was reportedly opposed by Sanjeet’s family.
Senior police officials, including DCP Amarinder, the ACP, Crime Branch Sector 19 in-charge Praveen Malik, and teams from the Detective Staff, visited the crime scene. The investigation is underway, and police are examining all aspects of the case to establish the sequence of events.
