Chandigarh University, Mantrin sign MoU to strengthen industry-linked media education

The University Institute of Media Studies at Chandigarh University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mantrin to strengthen industry-linked learning in media education. The MoU was signed on Tuesday by Mantrin Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lalit K. Sharma,  Chandigarh University Registrar Prof. S. S. Sehgal and  Prof. Ashita Chadha, Executive Director, UILAH Cluster. The collaboration aims to provide students with practical exposure through internships, skill development programmes, expert interactions and collaborative projects that prepare them for careers in the evolving media and communication sector.

The agreement is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice by offering students opportunities to gain hands-on industry experience and develop skills aligned with the changing needs of the media industry. Both UIMS and Mantrin said the partnership is expected to set a benchmark for academia-industry collaboration in media education while creating stronger career opportunities and experiential learning avenues for students.

Speaking on the occasion,  Mantrin CEO said that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to preparing students for the realities of the professional media landscape. Lalit K. Sharma further said the collaboration would provide meaningful industry exposure and help students develop the practical skills needed to succeed in a competitive and rapidly changing sector.

Welcoming the initiative, Prof.  S.S. Sehgal, Registrar of Chandigarh University said that the agreement reinforces the university’s commitment to industry-integrated education. He added that such collaborations are essential to developing future-ready professionals by combining academic learning with practical industry experience.

The UIMS  officials said the partnership will introduce structured internship programmes, guest lectures by industry experts and collaborative projects that bring students closer to real-world media practices. They added that the institute remains committed to promoting innovation, creativity and excellence in media education through strategic collaborations with industry partners.
