Chandigarh, June 23
Chandigarh’s sporting community will come together on Tuesday evening, June 23, to celebrate International Olympic Day with a special programme at the Hockey Stadium, Sector 42, aimed at promoting the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh will attend the event as the Chief Guest, while H. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, Chief Secretary, UT Chandigarh, and Dr. Sagarpreet Hooda, IPS, DGP, UT Chandigarh, will be present as Guests of Honour.
The programme, scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm, is being organised by Hockey Chandigarh and will be hosted by its President Karan Gilhotra along with Vice President Anil Vohra and other members of the association.
The celebration is expected to feature athletes, coaches, sports officials, students, and sports enthusiasts from across Chandigarh. The event will focus on encouraging youth participation in sports and fitness while spreading awareness about the Olympic movement.
Karan Gilhotra said the initiative aims to inspire young people to adopt sports as part of their lifestyle and to highlight the values represented by the Olympic movement.
With the participation of the city’s sporting community, Chandigarh will join the global observance of International Olympic Day to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, unity and healthy competition.
