Dharamshala, June 12
The district police have finalized extensive security and traffic management arrangements for the upcoming One Day International match between India and Afghanistan in Dharamshala. Authorities said special measures have been put in place both inside and outside the stadium to ensure the smooth conduct of the high-profile fixture.
According to the police administration, the stadium complex has been divided into five major sectors, with five key entry points designated for spectators. Fans will be allowed entry through Gates 2, 3, 4, and 5. To streamline movement across the city, Dharamshala has also been divided into 8 traffic sectors, with dedicated officers assigned to each zone.
Special surveillance will be maintained along the route from the airport to the teams’ hotels and the stadium. Sector officers and police personnel have been assigned to monitor traffic flow and security arrangements throughout the event.
For parking management, designated facilities have been created at the Police Ground, IG Office premises, DC Office parking area, SP Office zone, Science Complex, and Thadi Ground. Additional parking arrangements have also been put in place at selected government schools and the Ruffer Stadium to handle increased traffic if required.
Police officials said nearly 700 personnel will be deployed for security and traffic duties during the match. All officers and staff have already been briefed regarding their responsibilities.
The administration has appealed to residents and visitors to park vehicles only at authorized locations and avoid roadside parking to prevent traffic congestion around the venue.
Candidates appearing for the Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) examination on the same day have also been advised to use designated parking areas. Students, employees, and staff traveling to schools and colleges will be allowed smooth movement upon producing valid identity cards or admit cards and will not face unnecessary restrictions, officials added.
