Abundantia Entertainment’s latest Netflix original film, Maa Behen, has made a strong global debut, securing the second spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Non-English Films chart within a week of its release. The crime-comedy is also trending in 15 countries across Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
Directed by Suresh Triveni and produced by Vikram Malhotra and Triveni, the film premiered globally on Netflix on June 4. The movie stars Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Dharna Durga and Ravi Kishan in key roles.
Commenting on the film’s success, Malhotra said the response from audiences across India and international markets demonstrates the global appeal of authentic Indian stories. He credited the film’s cast, writer Pooja Tolani and director Suresh Triveni for creating a story that has connected with viewers worldwide.
Maa Behen follows the story of Rekha, played by Madhuri Dixit, and her daughters Jaya and Sushma, portrayed by Triptii Dimri and Dharna Durga. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they discover a dead body in their kitchen, setting off a series of comic and dramatic events.
The film marks another women-led success for Abundantia Entertainment, which has previously backed projects such as Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, Jalsa, Chhorii, Chhorii 2, Sukhee and Daldal. The studio said the latest achievement further strengthens its record of producing commercially successful female-centric stories across genres and platforms.
Maa Behen is currently streaming globally on Netflix in Hindi, with dubbed versions available in 11 languages and subtitles in 35 languages.
The film is the first of two Netflix Original projects planned by Abundantia Entertainment in 2026. The second project, titled Family Business, will feature Anil Kapoor and Vijay Varma in lead roles.
