Patiala, May 30
An e-rickshaw driver was allegedly stabbed to death by another e-rickshaw driver in Patiala following an old dispute, police said on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Malik, a resident of Chaura village. According to police, the incident took place late Friday night when the accused, identified as Cheeku, allegedly attacked Malik with a sharp-edged weapon, resulting in his death.
Providing details, DSP-2 Jangjit Singh Randhawa said that both the victim and the accused were e-rickshaw drivers and had been involved in a longstanding rivalry over an undisclosed issue.
Based on the statement of the victim’s brother, an FIR (No. 117) has been registered at the concerned police station. Police teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused, who remains at large.
DSP Randhawa said the exact motive behind the murder would become clear only after the accused is apprehended and questioned. Further investigation into the case is underway.
