Keylong, May 26
Authorities in Lahaul-Spiti have imposed a nighttime restriction on vehicular movement along the Sansari-Killar-Tindi (SKTT) road near Jahlama Bridge following reports of cracks in the hillside and frequent rockfall incidents, making the stretch unsafe for commuters.
Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, Kiran Bhardana, said the Border Roads Organization (BRO) 94 RCC has reported continuous falling of stones and structural instability in the area. Repair and debris clearance work is currently underway.
Under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the administration has ordered a complete ban on vehicular movement on the affected stretch from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM until further notice.
Officials have urged commuters to strictly follow safety advisories and avoid unnecessary travel on the route.
