Shahpur, May 12
Shahpur MLA and Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania on Tuesday ordered a high-level investigation into the collapse of an under-construction bridge on the Dhanotu Laleta Banumahadev road, warning that negligence involving public funds and public safety would not be tolerated.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, Pathania visited the site along with administrative and Public Works Department officials to assess the situation. SDM Shahpur Ganesh Thakur, PWD Executive Engineers B.M. Thakur and Neeraj Jaswal, along with SDO Balbir Dayolia, were present during the inspection.
Local residents and representatives also raised concerns before the MLA regarding the quality of construction and supervision. Among those present were Sanjay Sharma, Sanjay Kapoor, Mohinder Singh, Vikram Singh Chambyal, and Inderjit.
Pathania directed officials to conduct an impartial and detailed inquiry focusing on three major aspects: the bridge design and technical standards, the quality of construction materials, and the role of departmental supervision during the construction process. He said strict legal and departmental action would be taken against any contractor or official found responsible.
The MLA further said that stricter quality control measures would be implemented in future development works to prevent such incidents. He added that there would be no compromise on construction quality, and accountability would be fixed in the Dhanotu bridge collapse case.
