Patiala Police formally arrested Sanour MLA Harmit Singh Pathanmajra under the Mining Act after he surrendered to a local court, officials said Monday.
SP (Investigation) Gurbans Singh Bains stated that FIR No. 87, dated September 5, 2025, was registered at Julkan police station under the Mining Act. Pathanmajra was arrested following his surrender, in line with legal procedure. Police have not yet sought remand in the mining case but may do so as the investigation continues.
In a separate case under Section 376, the court extended Pathanmajra’s judicial custody by 14 days. Officials stated that further details cannot be disclosed at this time due to the sensitive nature of the case, and the investigation is ongoing based on available evidence.
Meanwhile, the defence has requested Pathanmajra’s transfer from Bathinda jail to Patiala, noting that all cases against him are being heard in Patiala.
