Patiala, April 17
A tragic incident has come to light from Sular village in Patiala, where a police personnel posted with the PCR unit, Jarnail Singh Sandhu, was found dead inside his rented accommodation.
During late-night patrolling, the Dakala police were alerted after a local resident, Amrik Singh, found the officer’s body inside the house with a pistol nearby and informed the control room.
On receiving the alert, multiple police teams rushed to the spot, including officials from the Pasiana police station and senior officers such as DSP Samana. The area was thoroughly examined overnight, and forensic teams from Chandigarh were also called in to assist with the investigation.
The body has been taken into custody and sent to Rajindra Hospital for postmortem examination.
Preliminary findings suggest that the death may have occurred several hours before the body was discovered, as blood found at the scene had already coagulated. The deceased had reportedly been living in the rented house for the past three years and was originally from a village near Banur.
Officials said that no suicide note has been recovered so far. The cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report. Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation and are examining all possible angles in the case.
