Patiala, April 13
Unemployed apprentices have been protesting for four days outside the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) in Patiala. The group is intensifying its efforts to advocate for recruitment. The protesters said they completed their apprenticeship training, hoping to get jobs at PSPCL, but no hiring has occurred. They also said that several meetings with officials have not led to any real progress. The demonstrators warned that if their demands are not met, they will make the protest bigger in the coming days.
The Apprenticeship Unemployed Union organized the protest, which brought together young people from across Punjab who had finished their apprenticeship training. Supporters from other organizations have also joined to back their demands.
At the demonstration, protesters shut all the gates of the PSPCL office and shouted slogans against the administration. They said that even after many attempts and a long struggle, the government has not met their demand for jobs.
