Patiala, April 8
Senior Congress leader and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa visited Lal Singh’s residence in Patiala to offer condolences to his family on Wednesday.
Randhawa described Lal Singh as a pillar of Punjab and Congress politics, calling him a visionary and noble leader. He stated that Lal Singh’s passing is a significant loss for both the party and the state.
Reacting to the launch of a new party by Navjot Kaur Sidhu, Randhawa said every individual has the right to promote their own ideology and political platform. However, he alleged that Navjot Kaur Sidhu had supported drugs in Punjab, while he and his party remained firmly opposed to all forms of drug abuse.
Randhawa also responded to comments by Patiala Lok Sabha MP Dharamvir Gandhi praising Sukhbir Singh Badal. He said Congress leaders had helped people from their own pockets during the floods.
He further said that Dharamvir Gandhi should have first assessed the political situation, adding that people had already rejected Shiromani Akali Dal, especially Sukhbir Badal.
