The Indian government has yet to confirm whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York next month, where a meeting with US President Donald Trump is being considered, sources have said.
Initial indications suggest Modi is likely to travel to the US for the annual summit, with plans under discussion for talks with Trump aimed at easing trade tensions amid a recent downturn in bilateral ties.
If the visit goes ahead, Modi is also expected to hold a series of high-level meetings with other world leaders, including Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The UNGA session begins in late September, with heads of state arriving in New York from the week starting 23 September.
