The investigation into the death of Indore resident Raja Raghuvanshi, who died under suspicious circumstances during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, has taken a dramatic turn, with police claiming arrests have been made—even as the victim’s family disputes these developments. According to Meghalaya Police, Raja’s wife Sonam surrendered at Nandganj police station in Uttar Pradesh and was subsequently arrested. Police officials allege that she hired individuals to murder her husband and confirmed that three accused have been arrested so far. Two were apprehended from Indore and one from Uttar Pradesh as part of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) operation, according to media reports.

However, the claims have been firmly denied by Raja Raghuvanshi’s family. His brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, dismissed reports of Sonam’s arrest and surrender as “rumours.” “The police have not made any arrest, and she has not surrendered either—these are all rumours being spread,” Vipin said. “The DGP is saying she is the killer, but as of now, Sonam hasn’t even been questioned properly. Nothing has been officially said to her yet.”

Sonam’s father has demanded  the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry, claiming Sonam is being falsely accused and demanding a more transparent probe.
