In a major administrative reshuffle, the Punjab government on Monday transferred 56 tehsildars and 166 naib tehsildars as part of ongoing reforms in the Revenue Department aimed at improving public service delivery and rooting out corruption. The move comes under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, whose Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has pledged to deliver transparent and citizen-centric governance.
Revenue and Rehabilitation Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian, in a press statement, said the transfers reflect the government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. “Harassment of citizens in government offices will not be tolerated,” he said, adding that several complaints had been received regarding the functioning of certain revenue offices.
Mundian emphasised that the decision was part of a broader effort to make the administration more accountable and people-friendly. “These transfers are a result of ongoing efforts to reform the Revenue Department. Going forward, any official found engaging in misconduct will face swift action,” he said.
