IPrime Minister Narendra Modi met with US Vice President J.D. Vance in New Delhi on Monday, marking a renewed push to advance strategic and economic cooperation between the two countries. In a meeting that underscored the growing warmth between India and US , the two leaders discussed trade, technology, and regional stability – while invoking their shared nationalist visions: “Viksit Bharat 2047” and “Make America Great Again.”

In a diplomatic encounter rich with symbolism and strategic intent, Prime Minister Modi hosted US Vice President Vance and his family in New Delhi. The meeting, which included senior US administration officials, comes amid deepening political and economic engagement between the two democracies.

Modi warmly recalled his recent visit to Washington D.C., where he held “fruitful discussions” with President Donald Trump. According to Indian officials, those talks laid the foundation for a roadmap of bilateral cooperation driven by their respective national development agendas: MAGA and Viksit Bharat 2047.

Energy security, defence collaboration, and strategic technologies – including AI, cybersecurity, and semiconductor development – were also high on the agenda. The two sides are exploring new platforms for regular dialogue on innovation and critical infrastructure.

Modi and Vance also discussed several regional and global issues, including Indo-Pacific security and the Ukraine crisis. In a joint statement, they reaffirmed their commitment to diplomacy and dialogue as tools for peace in a “complex and contested” world.

The visit by Vice President Vance, accompanied by Second Lady Usha Vance and their children, was described by Indian officials as “cordial and forward-looking.” Modi extended his best wishes for their stay and expressed optimism for strengthening people-to-people ties.
