The Punjab government on Tuesday announced that more than 55,000 young people have been given government jobs in the last 36 months. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, speaking at an event where over 700 teachers received appointment letters, described the recruitment as a step towards an “education revolution” in the state. Chief Minister Mann highlighted the government’s focus on upgrading school infrastructure and providing quality education, stating that all vacancies are being filled promptly. He also stressed that the hiring process has been fully transparent, with no appointments challenged in court.
“The youth of Punjab are now choosing to stay and work here rather than moving abroad,” Mann said, adding that increasing college admissions reflect growing confidence in state opportunities.
Taking aim at previous administrations, he accused them of neglecting job creation and fostering corruption. “Those who once denied jobs to Punjab’s youth are now unemployed themselves,” he quipped.
Mann also underscored efforts to combat the drug menace, urging teachers to guide students in resisting substance abuse. He said the government has cracked down on drug networks, arresting major traffickers and seizing their assets.
The Chief Minister reiterated his administration’s commitment to zero tolerance for corruption, promising action against dishonest officials. He called on new recruits to serve with “missionary zeal” and prioritise public welfare.
The event also saw Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains welcoming the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
