32 Licensed weapons missing from Faridabad Police Station, ASI suspended

Thirty-two licensed weapons kept in police custody at Sector Eight police station in Faridabad have gone missing from the station’s malkhana (armoury room), officials said. The weapons, deposited by local residents for safekeeping, included several expensive, foreign-made firearms valued between ₹2 lakh and ₹10 lakh. Police have registered a theft case and launched an investigation.

The discrepancy came to light during a routine inspection of the malkhana. Officials initially found 13 weapons missing, but a detailed inquiry later confirmed that the number had increased to 32. The missing firearms included foreign-made pistols and other licensed weapons kept at the police station.

A case has been registered against Malkhana, in-charge ASI Bijendra Singh. Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta suspended Singh and ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter.

According to police sources, investigators suspect that some of the missing weapons may have been sold in Rajasthan and the Delhi-NCR region. However, the police have not issued any official confirmation regarding the suspected sale so far.

Senior police officials have directed the investigation team to trace the missing weapons and identify those responsible. Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta said the matter was under investigation and assured that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved.

The recovery of the missing firearms remains the biggest challenge for the police as the investigation continues.
