Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has praised former US President Donald Trump while describing him as “incredible” for the country. The shift in tone comes days after Trump unveiled a $500 billion artificial intelligence initiative involving Altman’s firm. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Altman acknowledged his change of heart about Trump. “Watching @POTUS more carefully recently has really changed my perspective on him. I wish I had done more of my own thinking and definitely fell in the NPC trap. I’m not going to agree with him on everything, but I think he will be incredible for the country in many ways!”The statement marks a significant departure from Altman’s previous criticism of Trump. The new AI deal, aimed at bolstering U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence, is seen as a landmark collaboration between the government and private sector.
Trump’s administration touted the agreement as a strategic move to cement the United States’ position at the forefront of global AI innovation. Altman’s public endorsement has sparked widespread debate among tech leaders and political observers.
