Chandigarh, October 14
The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, will hold a special camp on October 16 to resolve pending cases involving citizens and real estate developers, said Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian. During a meeting with officials from the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh, Mundian revealed that certificates would be issued in at least 50 cases of colonizers during the camp.
Mundian emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring zero pendency in resolving cases involving colonizers and citizens. “On the directives of the Chief Minister, efforts are being made to provide smooth and timely services,” he said, adding that a second camp would be held at the end of November to address additional pending cases.
The minister also urged citizens and developers to report any demands for bribes by government officials. Complaints can be submitted via email to transparency.hud@gmail.com, which will be addressed directly by Mundian and the department secretary.
Highlighting the government’s focus on planned urban development, Mundian stated that strict action would be taken against unauthorized colonies. Additionally, the government will begin its second auction of state-owned properties from October 18 to 29, while ensuring that no environmental violations occur during development.
Rahul Tewari, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, mentioned that monthly camps will be held to clear pending cases, reducing the department’s backlog from 1,000 cases to just 100. CREDAI officials praised the initiative, calling it a “novel step” towards improving real estate operations in Punjab.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials, including GMADA Chief Administrator Moneesh Kumar, PUDA Chief Administrator Neeru Katyal Gupta, and ACA PUDA Innayat.
