Punjab Police have busted a major cross-border weapon smuggling network in an intelligence-led operation carried out by Ferozepur Police, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Tuesday. Two accused — identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gori and Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky — have been arrested, and a cache of arms has been recovered, including six Glock 9mm pistols, four magazines, and four live cartridges.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Vikramjeet Singh maintained direct contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler involved in illegal arms trafficking. “Acting on his disclosure, police have recovered two additional Glock pistols,” DGP Yadav said. The accused also confessed to supplying weapons to local contacts under the instructions of their Pakistani handlers. His interrogation led to a breakthrough in tracing an earlier case involving the procurement of an AK-47 rifle through the same network.
Police have launched a technical analysis of the seized digital devices to identify the full supply chain — including foreign handlers and local collaborators. DGP Yadav reaffirmed that Punjab Police remains committed to dismantling transnational arms smuggling networks and ensuring a safe and secure Punjab.
