Punjab Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal met Kejriwal on Thursday, expressing gratitude for what he described as people-focused and employee-friendly steps approved by Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Speaking after the meeting, Goyal said the proposed medical college in Lehragaga would bring quality healthcare closer to residents of the region. He said the project would reduce the need for patients to travel to larger cities for advanced treatment.

According to the minister, the medical college will have a capacity of 440 beds and 100 MBBS seats. He said it would strengthen the public health system in the Malwa region while also creating new opportunities for young people seeking medical education. Goyal also highlighted the cabinet’s decision to adjust staff of the Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute in government departments. He said the move sent a clear message that the state government stood with its employees and was committed to protecting their job security through timely intervention.

He added that the Mann-led government remained focused on expanding public healthcare and safeguarding employees’ interests. The minister said the Lehragaga medical college was expected to benefit hundreds of thousands of people, while the resolution of the staff issue reflected the government’s emphasis on quick relief and administrative justice.
