President Droupadi Murmu on Monday emphasized the critical role of higher education institutions in preparing the young generation for evolving global demands and ensuring balanced, sustainable development in India. Speaking at Guru Jambheshwar University, Murmu highlighted the need for educational and technological advancements to reach rural areas.
Murmu noted the university’s significant enrollment of students from small towns and rural regions. She encouraged these students to promote the value of education within their communities and inspire others to pursue learning opportunities.
The President stressed that world-class research at higher education institutions could bolster India’s ambition to become a Global Knowledge Superpower. She praised the university’s achievements in research and its specialized departments for incubation, start-ups, patent filing, and research projects. These initiatives, she said, would nurture innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
Highlighting education’s broader impact, Murmu said it should instill life values like morality, compassion, and tolerance, alongside academic and professional skills. She urged students to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset to generate employment opportunities and address social challenges through creative solutions.
Murmu also honored Guru Jambheshwar Ji, the university’s namesake, for his advocacy of scientific thinking, ethical living, and environmental stewardship. She called his teachings especially relevant today as India seeks solutions to environmental crises.
The President expressed confidence that the university’s faculty and students would continue contributing to societal and national progress by following Guru Jambheshwar Ji’s ideals.
