Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hinted that India’s upcoming 2025 budget will focus on the middle class, women, and the poor. Addressing the media ahead of the 2025 Budget Session at Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of prosperity. He highlighted that it is customary to remember the goddess at the start of the Budget Session, as she represents wisdom, prosperity, and welfare. Modi prayed for her special blessings on the country’s poor and middle-class communities.
Remarking that India has completed 75 years of its Republic, which is a matter of immense pride for every citizen, Modi emphasized that this achievement also holds a special place in the democratic world, showcasing India’s strength and significance.
Modi also expressed gratitude to the citizens who have re-elected him for a third term, calling it a matter of pride. He noted that this was the first full budget session of his third term and expressed confidence that India would reach its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, the centenary of its independence.
In his address, Modi also took the opportunity to celebrate the peaceful start to the session, pointing out that it was the first time in a decade that there had been no foreign disruptions ahead of the budget discussions. He stated that past sessions had been marred by external efforts to create instability, but that this session would proceed without such interference, fostering an environment of stability and optimism.
The Prime Minister stressed that this session would help rejuvenate the country’s collective ambition, with all 140 crore citizens working together towards India’s development goals. Highlighting the government’s mission to bring about geographical, social, and economic progress, Modi emphasized that innovation, inclusion, and investment would continue to underpin the nation’s growth strategy.
Several key legislative proposals are expected to be discussed in the current session, with Modi underscoring that these measures would help strengthen India’s social fabric. One area of focus would be re-establishing the dignity of women and ensuring equal rights for all, irrespective of religion or community.
Modi also turned his attention to India’s youth, stating that the young population, particularly those aged 20-25, would stand to benefit the most from the country’s progress. He drew a parallel to the youth of the 1930s and 1940s, who fought for India’s independence, suggesting that the current generation would lead the country into its next phase of prosperity.
Finally, Modi called on all Members of Parliament to contribute actively to the nation’s development during the session, urging young MPs to engage with the process, as their involvement would shape the India of tomorrow.
