The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the arrest of YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, amid multiple FIRs filed against him in Maharashtra and other states. Allahbadia was criticized by the Court for using “dirty” and “perverted” language during a recent episode of India’s Got Latent. The top court also directed authorities to refrain from filing additional FIRs over the same incident.
The interim protection is contingent upon Allahbadia cooperating with the investigation and seeking protection from the police against threats. The Supreme Court expressed disapproval of his remarks, which it deemed shameful, asserting they would bring embarrassment to parents, daughters, and society. It further condemned the “depravity” of his comments, suggesting they undermined societal values.
The Court also noted that the show’s content appeared to have copied material from an Australian program and included explicit warnings. Despite granting the stay, the Court underscored the need for responsibility and respect in media, delivering a stern message to the YouTuber about the consequences of his actions.
