At least 43 people have died and more than 1,900 villages across 22 districts have been hit by severe flooding in Punjab, officials said on Wednesday. Over 3.84 lakh people in 15 districts have been affected, with thousands displaced from their homes. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who visited the state on the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said the Prime Minister was “extremely concerned” about the devastation.
