NSA Ajit Doval to hold border talks with China’s Wang Yi in Beijing

India’s National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval will travel to Beijing on December 17-18 for Special Representatives (SR) level talks on border issues with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, sources revealed on Monday, The discussions, agreed upon during a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, aim to advance border de-escalation efforts and manage bilateral relations.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, addressing Parliament on December 3, underscored the significance of peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) for improving ties with China. He informed lawmakers that the disengagement phase along the LAC has concluded, with focus shifting to de-escalation and operational management.

In his recent meeting with Wang Yi, Jaishankar reaffirmed commitments to resume SR-level and Foreign Secretary-level talks. “The conclusion of disengagement allows us to address other bilateral issues while safeguarding national security,” he said.
