In the wake of the tragic rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a Kolkata hospital, the victim’s father has disclosed her final diary entry. During an interview with news channel, he shared that his daughter, a dedicated student, expressed her career aspirations and commitment to her medical studies in her last diary entry, according to the news outlet Mint.

Before her night shift at RG Kar Medical College, the 31-year-old victim wrote about her determination to excel in her MD program and achieve a gold medal. Her father described her as a diligent individual who overcame numerous challenges to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. The news outlet said that the victim’s father conveyed his profound grief, emphasizing that while no amount of justice can fill the void left by her death, accountability for the perpetrator would provide some measure of solace.

Initially, the family was misled to believe that the death was a suicide. However, subsequent autopsy results revealed that she had been raped and murdered. The report noted severe injuries, including genital trauma and signs of strangulation, along with additional wounds.

A civic volunteer has been arrested in connection with the crime, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the case. The incident has sparked nationwide protests from the medical community and beyond.
