Jaishankar to attend Trump’s swearing-in, visit Spain for bilateral talks

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will attend the swearing-in ceremony of US President-elect Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., on January 20, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. “On the invitation of the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent the Government of India at the swearing-in ceremony of President-Elect Donald J. Trump as the 47th President of the United States of America,” the MEA said in an official statement.

Jaishankar will hold meetings with members of the incoming administration and other dignitaries attending the ceremony.

Before his trip to the U.S., Jaishankar will visit Spain on January 13-14, marking his first official visit to the country as External Affairs Minister. During the visit, he will meet Spanish leadership, including Foreign Minister Manuel Albares, to discuss bilateral relations, regional issues, and global matters of mutual interest. Jaishankar is also scheduled to address the 9th Annual Conference of Spanish Ambassadors and engage with the Indian community in Spain, the MEA added.
