Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has expressed deep sorrow over a fatal bus accident in the Haripurdhar area of Sirmaur district, where a private bus plunged into a deep gorge, killing 12 people and injuring several others. He has also ordered an inquiry to determine the cause of the accident. In a statement issued here, Agnihotri described the incident as “extremely painful and heartbreaking”. He offered condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the peace of those who lost their lives, while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
Officials said that the accident involved a private bus bearing registration number HP-64-6667. Following reports of the crash, district authorities, police and rescue teams were rushed to the site to carry out relief and rescue operations. The injured have been admitted to Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College and Civil Hospital Solan, where doctors say necessary medical care is being provided.
The Deputy Chief Minister has directed the district administration to ensure there is no lapse in rescue efforts and that all possible assistance is extended to the affected families.
